Why is the project relevant to you?

The Oxford to  Cambridge growth corridor is one of the most seriously water stressed area in  the country, yet it continue to be recognised by successive governments for  its strong potential for growth and innovation. Supporting sustainable growth  in this region depends on a healthy, thriving environment. However, there are  key challenges to be aware of including water supply pressures, water quality  concerns, healthy river and flood risk. You have a role to play in promoting  sustainable land use and development. This study focused on local planning  policies to highlight opportunities rather than constraints by examining how  water is currently considered and how local policies can be improved to  better support the water system.

Key messages for Land managers

The study shows that water needs to be thought about early, leading to better outcomes for the water system. This can be achieved by engaging early and collaborating with individuals and organisations to maximise opportunities.

You have a great chance to help by collecting, sharing and tracking environmental changes. This will increase what we know and how we understand our water system.
